Terms of service.
Last updated May 17, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Vela, our mobile app and website (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use Vela.
1. Who can use Vela
You must be at least 13 years old (or 16 in the EU/UK) to use Vela. If you're under the age of majority in your country, you'll need permission from a parent or guardian.
2. Your account
- You're responsible for keeping your account credentials safe. Don't share them.
- You're responsible for activity that happens under your account.
- One person per account, please. You're welcome to use Vela on multiple devices.
- If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately.
3. Subscriptions, free trial, and billing
- Vela offers a 7-day free trial for new users. No payment is required to start the trial.
- When the trial ends, you can choose a paid plan: Pro or Premium, billed monthly or annually.
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless cancelled.
- You can cancel anytime — your subscription will remain active through the end of the period you've already paid for.
- If you subscribe through Apple's App Store, billing and renewals are managed by Apple under their terms.
- Prices may change. We'll give you reasonable notice before any price increase takes effect on your account.
- Refunds: we don't generally offer refunds on subscription periods. Apple App Store purchases are subject to Apple's refund policy.
4. Your content
You retain ownership of everything you put into Vela — your photos, item details, outfits, routines, looks, trips, and notes ("Your Content").
By using the Service, you grant Vela a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive licence to host, store, process, and display Your Content solely to operate the Service for you. This includes generating recommendations, packing lists, and other personalised features.
We may also process Your Content in aggregated and anonymised form to produce statistical insights, as described in our Privacy Policy.
5. What you can't do
- Upload content that isn't yours or that you don't have permission to share.
- Upload illegal, harassing, hateful, obscene, or otherwise objectionable content.
- Reverse engineer, scrape, or attempt to extract source code from the Service.
- Use the Service to develop a competing product.
- Bypass our security, paywalls, or rate limits.
- Resell access to the Service.
6. Third-party services
Vela links to or integrates with third-party services (for example, brand websites for shopping suggestions, geocoding and weather APIs, payment processors). We're not responsible for the content, terms, or practices of those third parties.
7. Termination
You can stop using Vela at any time and delete your account from the settings page. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, or if we discontinue the Service. We'll give you reasonable notice in either case.
8. Disclaimers
Vela is provided "as is" and "as available". We do our best, but we can't guarantee the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that recommendations will be perfectly suited to you. Use of the Service is at your own discretion.
The recommendations Vela provides — packing lists, outfit suggestions, shopping prompts — are informational only and not professional advice.
9. Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Vela's liability to you for any claim arising out of these Terms or the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you've paid us in the previous twelve months, or (b) £100.
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that can't legally be excluded — for example, for fraud or for personal injury caused by negligence.
10. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll notify you by email or in the app before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be heard exclusively in the courts of England and Wales, unless your local consumer-protection law gives you the right to bring proceedings in your home country.

These Terms are provided as a starting template. They are not legal advice. Have them reviewed by a solicitor familiar with consumer apps and your jurisdiction before public launch — particularly the sections on liability, governing law, and refunds.
